In my times (jaja, I'm so old) the kids played outdoor, no in computares like today. I really liked may older games, like: "The color chikens" " The Nations" " The Elastic" "Telex" " The poison bottle", etc. But my favourite game was " Tombo", I played all the time !!! whenever I Could !

Five Lukas

Hello, how are you? I hope find. Well, definitely the greatest chilean of all time is NOT Gonzálo Cáceres. The greatest chilean of all time for me is Lucila Gody Alcayaga “Gabriela Mistral”

Gabriela mistral was an important writer and poet who won a nobel prize (one of the two chilean nobel prize winners). She was born on april 1889 and died on january 1957. She was not only a poet, she was too an important educator and diplomatic. She start teaching without professional title on a school in La Serena and to send contributions to the newspaper “El Coquimbo”. This shows the important spirit of social vocation of she, because she didn’t need a particulary study or obligation to participate in school and newspaper. She also developed a self-taught knowledge. After thar, she received the tittle of “Estate Teacher” without going to the Pedagogic institute of University of Chile. She was internationally recognized as a teacher, because the Mexican government requested her assistance to develop its education system.

She worked in many poor schools and became director of Numer 6 Highschool of Santiago. Gabriela mistral made great literary works with a strong critical and social meaning. She reflected her social vision through the poetry with beautiful metaphors. She also was secretary of one of the sections of League of Nations and of the institute of international cooperation. Gabriela was consul of Chile in Europe and Latin America cities.

I think the importance of Gabriela Mistral is her work like a teacher, her poetry was one of the forms to teach and show their world view, a way of reaching the social world.

She was pure appointment with chilean society and Great Poetry too: She was the first Latin american to win a Nobel Prize. Her literary work is inseparable of her social appointment. If I could ask anything to Gabriela Mistral I ask her: How contribute to solving the educational problems in Chile, in the context of neoliberal reforms? I’m sure she would have a good answer, a good proyect in her mind.
Goodbye classmathes!

oh yes, I want to be a TV star !

Hi people, how are you? I hope find =). Well, in this post I will talk about a perfect or ideal job.

Obviously if I can choose a job y would choose the job of a Geographer, because I love Geography... aja, no! it’s a joke. I really like geography, but if I could choose an ideal job I will choose something fun, easy and well paid.
The job I would choose would be: Host of Travels documentaries of beautiful places in all the world like the tv programs of National Geographic. I think every people who likes nature and travel, would like this job. I choose this job because I think is very fun: I can travel for all the world absolutely free!! I can know many interesting and beuaty places without paying for it! And I coul meet differents cultures and people of different kind of lifestyle. I think that would be an increible job because I could to things I like (things for today would pay) but I’d receive a salary!. Altough I not work all my life in this job. I think that job is great, but for a period of time, for a period of life. That is because I want to have a family, and family isn’t compatible with a job like this.

The nomadic life that involves a job like that, is not the only disadvantage, because although the job is “perfect”, I think that I need a job where I feel that I gave something to the world (to the people), and this job is a little individualistic, because I know I can do thing for the people and the common good through another job (like a geographer!).
That’s all, goodbye ¡

Rock&RoLl

Hi geoblogers ! I like very much the topic of today: A famous person I would like to meet. I really like music,so many people of the rock world come to my mind, specially people of band of the seventies like Ian Gillan, John Lennon, Mark Farner, Mick Jagger, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and also people of contemporary bands like Bruce Dickinson, Chris Cornell, Brandon Boyd, Scott Weiland and specially Dave Grohl from Foo Fighters (one of my favorite bands).
But, there is one person I would have liked to know with all my heart: Robert Plant, the vocalist of Led Zeppelin.

I think Robert Plant is the best vocalist ever, in the history of rock. Many other musicians have been inspired by his musical work. I would like to know him because I like to ask him what is his perception of music, what means the music in his life and how started the creative process of Led zeppelin. I’d like to talk with Robert about so many song of led zeppelin that are a mystery to me. The music of led zeppelin is one of the most complex works in the history of rock music, because it contains many metaphors in its musical structure and lyrics. Every note, a very sound and every word, has a meaning.

For all of this, I think that meeting Robert Plant and have a conversation with him, must be one of the most incredible things in the world, he is a musical genius that marked a before and after in the history of rock. Moreover, if I have the possibility to hear him play and sing in the conversation, would be the best meeting ever!
… but.. this only a dream.

Enjoy Led Zeppelin!!!

Another Perfect Day

Definitely my perfect day will be when Foo Fighter come to Santiago and give a show where they play all my favorites songs (Like everlong, generator, this is a call, word forward, wheels, resolve, learn to fly, times like these, and many others!) .

But.. that day is very distant, so I think is better to talk about a perfect and simple day at the same time.

In the past, I was think that my perfect day had been with someone particulary special for me and just the presence of this person would make the day perfect. But, with the time, I’ve learn that particulary person is not necesary, because the most simple things of the daily life can make perfect days.

For this, my perfect day will be alone or with any of my friends who likes the things I like to do. First of all, I will wake up early around 8 o’clock to go to some place with mountains to climb, like Cajón del Maipo. That can will be better if I can go biking. After that, i’d like to go to some place with water to swim, if the mountains are in the coast, the beach would be the perfect place !

Next, I will go to home to make lunch, but not any food. I like to eat meat or fish with many kind of differents salads. For the dessert ice cream would be sensational, in special flavors like mango, hazelnut, passion fruit and others.

In the afternoon, I ‘d like to enjoy the landscape, go to swim if I’m in the beach, go to walk around the city if I’m in Santiago.

Finally, in the evening I’d like to go to somewhere to listen to live music; jazz, blues or rock. If that isn’t possible, I’d like to be in any place when I can listen to good music; in house with friends, a a friend’s house, etc.

In conclusion, my perfect day must have: Natural landscape and activites in this landscape, good food, friends and music. That’s all that I Need.

Santiago good Placess

Hi classmathes and persons who visit my blog, today I’m talking about good places to visit in Santiago.

First of all, I tell you that the places I have to recommend are principally places where you can go to enjoy natural landscapes. This is because I think that is very important, in a contaminated city like Santiago, to find some places to be free of smog and see the natural beauty of the city.

The historic old town in center is beautiful. The old buildings and their architecture must to be visited. For example "The Museum of beauty arts" , The Presidential Palace "La Moneda", The Central House of University of Chile, and many public buildings (the ministry, etc).

First of all, I think tourist should go to Hill Pochoco in Lo Barnechea to climb and enjoy the trekking and nature. From the top of the hill, the tourist can have a spectacular view of almost of everything in Santiago. A panoramic view.
T
hen, the tourist should go to the historic old town to visit the places I mentioned earlier, and after that they can go the restaurant “Los Buenos Muchachos” in Av. Ricardo Cumming 1031, to eat one of the best Chilean food.
F
inally, The tourist should visit the “Barrio Bellavista” because is the center of the nocturnal life in Santiago. In this place are so many places to: Take a drink, see live music, go to dance different kind of music (cumbia, reggeaton, electronic, salsa, etc) or just enjoy a good place with friends.
I recommend “Patio Bellavista” to take a drink and eat something special and after that go to Salsoteca “La Maestra Vida”.

In brief:
1- Cerro Pocho in the morning
2- Old town
3- Restaurant Los Buenos Muchachos
4- Patio Bellavista
5- Salsoteca Maestra Vida.
gOODbye !

clothes !

Hello persons who visit my blog. Today I’m talking about a shop I like. Well, is difficult to me talk about this topic because I hate the shop places! I don’t like the agglomeration of people and their desperation to buy.

I like two shops for different reasons: Patronato and “Los Caracoles de Providencia”. I like Patronato because is a very good place to buy clothes because there is plenty and the prices are very cheap. But you need a whole day to find good things, so Patronato has advantages and disadvantages, is a really exhausting place. The first time I went to “Patronato” was when I was ten years old aprox. My mum took me to buy clothes and I remember that I thought “ Oh my good! This is incredible, so many clothes of different colors”.

I’m going to Patronato a few days in the year, because I didn’t have money to buy always. The last thing I bought was a t-shirt.

The other place I like is “Los caracoles de Providencia”. The first time I visited that place was when I was 12 years old. I went with my friends of the school to buy clothes. Then, I’ve went to los caracoles one time a year with my Father to buy my Birthday present. I like this place because it reminds me of the beautiful afternoon with my dad, where I first choose a garment and after that we went to a restaurant to eat and drink something. The last thing that my dad bought to me in los caracoles, was a beautiful jacket.

I think I like this kind of shop because I love clothes, and always I have something to buy.

Only Clowns !

Hi, in these days the demonstrations are in fashion! that’s what is seems… but the problem is a bit bigger, the problem is our new government! Yes, because these year the political power is in wrong hands, in the hands of the same people who killed other people in dictatorship years ago.
The demonstrations are not only from students, are from public workers (hospital, education services, etc) because they aren’t agree with the new policies.
The student demonstration specifically, are for the new education policies that seeks to impose de new government, especially the education minister Joaquin Lavin who is one of the standards of the Chilean right wing.

It’s proposing a reform of university education, which aims mainly to the privatization of public universities as our beloved University of Chile, and that is why the demonstrations have been so strong on the part of students of this university. I’m completely agree with the demonstration, I've actually participated in student demonstrations, and ended up wet with the “guanaco water” and suffocated by tear gas without doing anything wrong!, only walking.
But, that isn’t all. The police have attacked our faculty (Faculty of Architecture and urbanism) with water cannons and tear gas for no reason! They have attacked the 15 tower to!

Here a video of that:

I think this situation is unbelievable, and shows how dictatorial management Piñera really is.

For all of this, I’m absolutely agree with the demonstration, despite the fact that by time I couldn’t participate 100%, and because I have participated before in education demonstration, specifically in the "revolution of penguins 2006" when I was lider of the orient zone.

Well.. that's my opinion..I hope you'll enjoy the photos and the video.
Goodbye

an excelent show: Play the cumbia of Villa Cariñoo !!

Hi! How are you??

In this post, I will talk about a special show: The show of Villa Cariño about a month ago.

Villa cariño is a chilean band of cumbia, they played in galpón victor jara and I went with my friend Vicky, who loves Max (the vocalist of the band). We went to this show because we love cumbia, and we really like this band.

The day of the show (Friday) we were coming to the beach. Vicky and me were one week in Viña del Mar with our friends Fran, Vane, Isa and Chica. I spent all day in vicky’s house, and stayed there to sleep. We arrived to Santiago on Friday’s morning, and the show was in Friday’s night. That weeked was our last holyday weekend, and we needed to enjoy it !.

The show was amazing, the band played almost all the song we like! and we dance so much!! However we had a little problems such as I bought my ticket and I was in the list to enter free! I lost two valueable thousand pesos, our friend Vane couldn’t go with us and finally we have to arrive in Vicky’s house early ! For this reason, we couldn’t dance all night long. However , we enjoy the show very much!

The band played some songs of their new disc that isn't on sale yet, like “Para dormir contigo otra vez”, “ Ahora que te tengo” and “No”. The song “No” is a good song for today because talk about the negative to proyects that hurt the enviorment like Pascua Lama and Hidroaysén, and today de COREMA of Coquimbo approved a thermoelectric proyect in a protected coast zone .

Here is the soong !!

Music is Life

The most wonderfull thing in life is listen to music, I love it ! With music I feel that I can get easily connected to my inner being, my feelings, thoughts and emotions.

In this rainy day, the only thing I want is listen to music all day in my room, different kind of songs that reflecting the differents feeling I have inside.

Here, I show you some good songs.

First “Vuelos” by Bersuit, a song about a military dictator ship in Argentina

Now, another song of Bersuit: Murguita del Sur, that song is so powerful ! a Live version.

That was Bersuit.

Now, an amazing version of a song of Foo fighters: Times Like these, acoustic version. This song fully reflect wat I feel in this point in my life !
Enjoy it !!! Goodbyee

Let's Go CHILEEEEEE !

I love the World Cup, I’ve seen every game I could. I think all the teams, except Germany and Holand, have had a very deffensive game without a good show. The stars of soccer like England, France, Italy haven’t done a good job. In this context, I love the match of Chile versus Honduras, because was a very offensive game and were an exciting 90 minutes.

I Saw the game in my house with two friends (Viky and Fran) and with my brother Adrian. We saw it in a big size: we connected the game to a data show and we got an amazing image !! That made the game more exciting.
Viky, Fran and me, worked all night for university subjects and only sleept two hours! But the game gave us the necessary energy to wake up early in the morning. We cook pizza and lemon pie at 3 o’clock of the morning ! to have something special to enjoy the match.

Is very difficult for me choose only one player as “The best”, because I think a lot of players made a really good game. I really liked how played Matías Fernandez, Alexis Sanchez, Arturo Vidal, Jean Beausejour and Gary Medel , because they helped the team to create gol situation. In the case of Medel, I think he was a very important player, because was very solid in the Chilean defense. I don’t think there has been a “worse” player, but definitely lacked a player like Chupete Suazo.

Finally, I don’t now if Chile can win the World Cup, because there are very good teams competing, and Chile haven’t many experience on world cup. At the moment, I hope Chile can pass to the second phase.

Good bye !

VACATIONS

In general, I could say that I ‘ve had really good vacations in my life, but the ones I remember in a particular way are last summer’s vacations: January 2010.

Last summer, I visited the Chilean-Argentinian Patagonia. I had to work hard during the whole of 2009 in order to get the money for the trip, and it was worth it. I had planned those holidays months in advance, until I finally could do it. I visited the “Parque Nacional Argentino Los Glaciares”, Puerto Natales, Punta Arenas and Calafate.

One of the things I just loved about these vacations was that I could enjoy the stunning natural beauty of those amazing landscapes ... places where you can only get to after you walked long distances for hours! So, that was how i visited beautiful hills, rivers, glacier and many places that I hadn’t even heard of. It was a great experience and I will always remember it in a special way, because in this trip I felt that I was able to disconnect myself from my everyday life and from the routine of the city, and instead, I lost myself in the infinite of the natural, leaving the distractions behind.

Favorite Course

My favorite course this term is “Geologia de Campo 1, which is being given by the profesor Marcelo Farias. This course is not part of our curriculum. I am taking it with other 5 classmates in the faculty of Engenieering of Universidad de Chile, because it belongs to the carreer of Geology.

I have really enjoyed this course, because I have learned many new things that I think. Most of those things I have discovered are the ones I learned in the field trip, and I just loved the field trip! It was an amazing experience: We travelled to the North of Chile and stayed there for 10 days. The idea was to try to recreate the geological history of a specific zone, so this trip was an instance when I learned the most.

For example, I learned a lot about those structural proceses which form a determined RELIEVE. The work was really hard, and at a very fast pace, in fact, but it was very interesting and entertaining.

In general, I can say we have learned a lot so far, not only from the proffessor and his assistant, but also from our geology classmates, who have supported us with their help at the moment of dealing with those contents we aren’t so familiar with, as we are not geology students.

I think it was a very good idea to take this course. The fact that I get familiar with some notions about geology is going to be a useful tool which will definitely help me in my spatial research.

Best Friend in the world

My best friend in the World is Natalie. She is practically like a sister to me. I met her when I was 3 and she was 6, we met in the street where we both live.
We didn’t get on well at first. Actually, I remember that we used to argue a lot , but as time went by, we became really close friends

When we were little we used to spend a lot of time together, we used to do everything together! Now, it ‘s different, because my classes at university keep me really bussy and there are some weeks when I can't talk to her. But everytime I see Nathalie again, it feels as if time had never passed, and we can talk for hours, or even the whole night ,or just hang round here or there having fun.

My friend and I get on really well, because we totally know each other. I trust her and she trusts me because we have grown up together, just like sisters. She is the best friend that has ever existed. She’s always there when I need her: to tell me off, to listen to me or just to cry with me if I’m sad. I love my friend, and my life wouldn’t be the same without her. She has been at my side in every important stage of my life, always in an inconditional way.

Nathalie definitely knows who I am, she knows me well. She belongs to that small and selective group of people who know everything about me. Nathalie is also a person who I really trust, a member of that restricted group of people, and I would do anything for her, like “putting my hands on fire ”and I know “I wouldn’t burn my hands”. That shows how much I trust her.

GEOGRAPHY

Hi classmates ! I think the question “why you decide to study geography?” Is very usual, and always I have troubles to answer, because is very difficult explain what is geography, and people have wrong ideas about this discipline.
I decided to study geography because I always liked the social sciences, especially history, but at the same time I liked the environmental problems like sustainable development. First I saw engineering careers in renewable natural resources, but they were very scientific and didn’t address the social issues. Then, I met the geographer Rodrigo Rocha, who was a very important person in my election process; because he helped me to take the decision show me the different areas that are within the geography.
I decided to study geography when I was 16 years old, and I have never regretted about my decision because I love the career, but in the second year I had troubles with the university of Chile and I thought to go to Catholic University, but finally I think University of Chile is the best.
Geography have so many areas! but I would like to work in ordering and planning, I hope I can do this in public service.
Good bye!

Pichilemu

Hi classmates ! Well I gonna tell you about my experience in Pichilemu .
Last week I went to pichilemu on a field trip from the subject integrated coastal zone management. The main objective was analyze 3 areas of this city, the physical one (geomorphology, climate, hydrology ,etc) the economic area (the main economic activities) and the social area (cultural identity).

I worked on cultural identity through interviews and surveys to pichilemu's habitants in different places; on the coast and rural areas. The experience working in this scope was incredible ! I met a beautiful people and I learnt that Pichilemu’s identity isn’t only one, because the identity between different places change. All small towns have their own identity.

Apart from working, the fied trip was very interesting because we had time to enjoy the beach and share with us, we spent nights very funny !. I think the time we spent together was the best, specially because I found my twin soul: paty !

I had not gone to Pichilemu before, and I loved it! I think it's a beautiful place and is not heavily developed, making it a very pleasant place to live , away from the city's noises and contamination. For this, I will like live in Pichilemu

Fernando's Blog : Think Fernando, Think !

Hi, today I'll talk about Fernando's blog

First of all, I tell you fernando is my classmate from the first year of university. He is very good person, and his girlfriend is so nice !.

The blog is white and green, I love this combination (my room is green and white) and has an interesting YouTube tool bar with videos. I like the colors and I love the music, so I think This blog is great, but would be better with more things.

His blog has only three photos, of a movie, a sport’s new and a cartoon, Pluto. He doesn’t have many post, only 14. Fortunately his sweet girlfriend writes each entry.

My favorite part of fernando’s blog, is his entry about music. He post about Blind Melon, I really like this band, and I like the song he chose to show “Pull”. I agree with his opinion about this song, I think the mixing of the different musical instrument is great to.

That's all, I hope fernando post more about good music.

Good Bye !

Hi classmates and Simon! I really like movies, so is very difficult to me talk about one movie. In last time I’ve seen many good films, like “Die well” a movie based on true events, about the power of dictatorships and “Nueces para el amor “a romantic movie with a strength political sense. But in this time, I don’t write about those ones.

I choose “Good bye Lenin” one of my favorite films. I saw for the first time in 2004, and I saw newly a couple of weeks ago. I was boring so I decided saw the movie one more time, and … Oh my god! I don’t mind having seen before, because I loved it like the first time.

Good bye Lenin is a German movie of 2004, they main actors are Daniel Brül, Katrin Khamatova and María Simón (like the teacher!), and the scenes were drawn in Berlin.

The story is set in 1990, in the context of the fall of Berlin wall, in other words, in the end of East Germany. A boy (Alexander), needs to protect his mother ( Christiane) because she is very fragile for a fatal shock after a long coma. Christiane, is a political leader of East Germany and the Berlin wall fall down while she was in coma. For this situation, her son try to make her believe the German Democratic Republic is alive.

I think that movie is a perfect reflection of the idealism of the age.

I hope you see the trailer !

Technology: Mi cel phone !!

Hi, I think this topic is very boring and I don't want to write about them... but, what ever !

My favorite piece of technology is definitely My Cel phone Sony Ericsson W302.
I love it because with this thing I can:
- Make Calls
- Listen my favorite music ! ( the cel has 2 Gigas only for music!)
- Listen Radio ( a very handy tool in case of Earthquakes !)
- Play games
- Connect to internet
- See Calendar
- See World Clook
and many others things !!! Also, is confortable, because is very thin and I can carry it everywhere.

The first time that I used my celphone was eight month ago. I was so sick, I have in my body the terrible virus AHN1 ! “The pig’s Influenza “. My mother gives to me, because my last cel phone was stolen by stupid thief. I was so happy with them, after that I always carry with me.

I believe my life will be terrible without cel, I really need them, especially in Santiago travels ( in subway for example).
Good bye dear Bloggers…
I hope you’ll have a nice week.
